  Still Totally ADD

  Received another call from our son yesterday. It lasted for another 2 1/2 hours of conversation. We can tell how much he has mature in the last serveral years. He wants use to send him by e-mail scanned copies of certain old wt. and awake bound volume articles on 1975 thinking by the Borg and the cover picture of old ones with the saying this generation will not pass until all these things happen or something like that. Through his research he has found out the wt. keeps revising their history so he would like some hard copies for proof. Because of the kind of work he does he is able to listen to podcasts cast. So we gave him thisjwlife.com to listen to. He watch A&E Cults series on jw's which we told him about. He said it really brought home the point on child abuse. The interesting thing was we told him about Barbara Anderson so he looked her up and found out he lives only 80 miles from her.

  We joked, laughed and talk about how the cult has hurt our family. He said he will be able to call us at the end of next week. That's about it. Thank you all again and have a great day. Still Totally ADD

  Good discussion on this subject. I feel talk radio shows which have sprung up everywhere, pod casts and left and right news aka Fox and MSMBC. Give us one sided information. Or shows that bring up a problem real or not then come up with a solution in a matter of seconds. The problem is it makes the masses lazy in thinking for themselves and depends on what they hear instead of doing research for themselves or the show stir up emtions to cloud people's thinking. Not once have I ever heard we need to understand why the other side thinks or acts this way instead they stand on their side of the line and sling mud at each other. No one seems to listen to one another anymore. This is one thing I try to instill with my new found friends who for the most part on both sides of the line.

  What's funny most have the same fears and concerns. The us against them mentality runs deep in today's politics. I sometime feel the Borg had it right when teaching political nueutrality. But then again that does not bring any solutions either. Still Totally ADD

  Thank you guys for your warm comments. We just got off the phone with him. It was a 2 1/2 hour conversation. Nothing but good things were said. Not only was it the ARC that woke him up it was also Cedars YouTube videos. This and other things really help him. He is going to call us tommorow night for more conversation. He did tell us our other son it a active jw now. I tell you all, what a rollercoaster we have been on the last 24 hours.

  He said he knows it takes 11 hours to drive to our house and he wish me a belated happy birthday. We told each other how much we love each other and said goodbye. What a day, what a day. Good night all. Still Totally ADD

  Still Totally ADD

  Again both of us are overwhelmed by all your kind words. We wish we could be with all of you in person and have a big party. Many of the advices you have given us will be used in one way or another. Thank you for them and your concerns. Our son is very tech savvy so I know he will be taking all the precautions he has to. Whatever he tells us to do on this subject we will follow it.

  UPDATE:. After his first e-mail we e-mailed him right back. In turn he has e-mail us serveral times now wanting to know all that has been going on with us and pictures of us. Also he has sent us pictures of our grandchildren. Two we have not seen since December 2012 and one we have never seen. They are growing up so fast and are all so beautiful to see. It just makes me cry. The 3rd e-mail came in and we are now setting up a time when we can talk on the phone. It may be set up for next weekend. He said his wife will be working nights then and he will be free to talk to us then. We will let you all know about it later.

  We were still freshly out of the Borg when we talk to him last in 2012 and I feel we have mature alot. With that said we plan to take it slowly and just listen to him and show him how much we love him. No more telling him how bad the Borg is. Only when he ask us specific questions will we answer him truthfully. No more Borg style conditional love just unconditional love. Again thank you for all the love you have shown us. We will mark June 28, 2018 on our calendar as the day we have have one of our sons back. Still Totally ADD

We received a e-mail from him tonight where he apologized to us for shunning us all these years, how bad he felt for doing this. He is working hard to get himself and his family out of the cult. But first he needs to lie low for now so he can wake his wife up. After reading his message all we could do was hold each other and cry with tears of joy. This is a joyous day for us. I want to thank you all for all the support you have given us on this subject.

  A very interesting read Terry. I have to say as a elder for 25 years I don't ever remember any spying going on in the congregation by other elders. Not saying this did not happen but I was not aware of any. I can say when certain CO's visited our congregation they would go into a questioning session on certain individuals who walk away. Before I was appointed a elder in 1986 I remember hearing about how some elders would spy on so called wrong doer's trying to catch them in the act. Perhaps it was going on in a clandestine way by those in a higher up position such as CO's and they used the elders to reach their objective by the time I was a elder.

  I do remember a CO telling our body of elders not to go after those who walk away from the organization but I was waking up at the time and I thought this was a way to keep the elders in the dark about the truth about the truth. Again I am not saying this was not happening I am just saying I was not aware of it going on this extensively and prehaps I just to naive to see it. The real education of this cult came after I left.   Refusing to become an elder

  i know someone who's family is very spiritual and says that her brother only pioneers and does not want to become an elder for various reasons, probably not wanting to deal with people's problems, and also the tremendous workload they put on them.

  is this considered refusing advancement by god, or just choosing your own way?

  he has not been "tapped" to become one, but he merely hasn't strived to become one..

  I remember a brother who did become a elder and within one week step down because he could not handle the pressure of being a elder. I think he broke the world's record of being the shortest elder appointment ever. Lol. Still Totally ADD
